I was so excited to visit Chanel's Mademoiselle Privé exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London last week, just before it ended. It was a very popular and prestigious event with long queues so we had to be patient, but it was definitely worth the wait. The setup was unusual, unlike any exhibition that I've been to before, as each gallery space was based on a different theme or 'experience' of Chanel. From the exquisite fashion displays to the brand symbolism, from the jewellery displays to the embroidered detailing on her garments, each display was an experience in its own right, and seemed to capture the very essence of Coco Chanel.
Coco Chanel's chic style and elegance have been a source of inspiration to me for a long time, and some of you will know that I recently had a photo shoot on the famous Chanel staircase in her house at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. As well as the fact that she ignored so many of the rules for women's fashion in her day, most appealing to me about the brand is the clean lines, simplicity, monochromatic style and elegance.
However, the area that had the greatest impact on me was the Chanel No.5 room. The space experiments with the alchemy of the revolutionary and mysterious composition of the famous scent. The experience for me was quite surreal as the scents evoked memories from my childhood, fleeting glimpses in my mind of visits to Selfridges with my mother and of meeting up with my very glamorous grandmother at the perfume hall.
In all, the exhibition emphasised to me the importance of creating an incredible experience when working with your clients, particularly when working one to one. Personally, I believe that an uplifting and high vibrational environment is crucial for my clients for the work that I do to expand their awareness of what is possible in life and in business.
