The power of switching off

THIS SUMMER, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MANY YEARS, I DECIDED TO have A PROPER HOLIDAY. AS A TYPE 'A' PERSONALITY, I HAVE IN THE PAST FOUND IT INCREDIBLY HARD TO SWITCH OFF, BUT THIS TIME WAS DIFFERENT. I WAS ABLE TO BE MINDFUL AND PRESENT THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE TRIP, AND FOUND IT SUCH AN EXHILARATING EXPERIENCE.

I WAS ALREADY STAYING AT THE RITZ-CARLTON IN MARINA DEL REY, LOS ANGELES, GRADUATING AS A DIVINE LIVING COACH WITH 'THE ACADEMY'. SO IT MADE SENSE FOR MY HUSBAND AND CHILDREN TO FLY OUT AND MEET ME FOR A CALIFORNIA ROAD TRIP.

AND WHAT A TRIP IT WAS. WE SPENT TIME IN BEVERLY HILLS AND HOLLYWOOD BEFORE RENTING A WHITE JEEP AND DRIVING TO LAS VEGAS. STAYING AT THE SPRAWLING YET ELEGANT CAESAR'S PALACE WAS AN EXPERIENCE IN ITSELF, AND THE WHOLE CITY WAS A FEAST FOR THE SENSES COMBINED WITH HOT DESERT SUNSHINE.

FINALLY WE DROVE DOWN TO THE STUNNING CITY OF
SAN DIEGO, AND SPENT A FEW DAYS EXPLORING THE COASTLINE. I WAS PARTICULARLY TAKEN WITH THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF LA JOLLA, AND KNOW THAT I COULD EASILY SETTLE THERE.

BEST OF ALL, I NOW FEEL MORE CREATIVE AND MORE INSPIRED, BURSTING TO BEGIN THIS NEW SEASON. THIS TYPE OF HOLIDAY IS NOW most DEFINITELY OUR 'NEW NORMAL'.
