We're living in an age of distraction. Things have changed dramatically in recent years. There is absolutely no denying that we are all experiencing more information, interruption and distraction, and at the same time less focus, concentration and depth.

As a result our lives have become faster, busier, overwhelmingly so, and there are no signs that this trend will slow down. In fact there is more pressure than ever to want it all, do it all, have it all. Where is all of this leading, and will it make us happier and more fulfilled? Unlikely.

I know from experience that people are increasingly struggling with self-doubt and indecision, disconnected from their purpose and feeling a sense of emptiness.

I know because I've been there myself. Five years ago I crashed and burned, overwhelmed and overloaded by all I was trying to manage.

Since then I've gone through a complete transformation to get to where I am today, by learning to connect deeply with my authentic self and by listening to my intuition.

In fact that experience was one of the best things that could have happened to me, because it made me stop and reassess everything in my life, and that was the start of freedom-based living for me!

At the pinnacle of my design success I made the difficult decision to listen to my heart, and I haven't regretted it for a single moment!

It's been a rollercoaster of a journey, but I'm so happy with how it's all panned out. These days I mostly feel that my life and business are aligned with who I really am, but it wasn’t always this way. Here's my story:

Five years ago I was juggling three businesses, and two children, constantly pushing myself to do more. I was an expert at multitasking, but always overwhelmed, stressed and exhausted. I knew my wheels were spinning and that I was stuck, but I carried on struggling, desperate to make my mark.

No matter how hard I worked, how much I chased the dream, I just ended up going round in circles. My time and energy were spread too thin as I divided my focus, constantly multitasking and working round the clock.

With each passing year I felt life rushing by and wondered whether I would ever catch up with the time I had wasted. It was an internal battle, I had no pressure from anyone but myself, such high expectations. My potential had become a big burden that seemed to weigh heavy on my shoulders.

And then finally I had my chance. The opportunity to exhibit at a prestigious design fair in London with my own design label, Patterns Apart, a luxury brand of patterned textiles and accessories.

I had plenty of interest from high end department stores, licensing companies and international buyers, but I was hesitant about being able to fulfil the demand.

Then, thoroughly exhausted by the pressures of the event and the decisions that had to be made, I crashed and burned.

At that point all I could do was surrender. I craved time at the spa, and began to spend more and more time there, which gave me the space to clear my head, to rediscover my intuition and to listen within.

One day, whilst relaxing in the hot tub, I had a flash of insight about my deeper purpose, which involved inspiring others to connect with their true brilliance and shine.

After that profound insight, I shifted gear, reinvented myself, and set about intentionally designing a life I loved. This involved certifying as a coach, joining a high-vibe community of spiritual entrepreneurs, travelling the world and launching my glitzy new brand and freedom-based business along the way.

I’d finally worked out how to create success on my own terms and to achieve true freedom and I was in my element. I have to say I haven't looked back for a moment, and that I've been happier than ever.

It's such a relief to tell this story, and to share how I've been able to shift from manic to mindful since then. I'd love to know if you've been through something similar yourself.

The experience literally turned my life around. I'm now fiercely protective of my time. Plus self care is high on my list of priorities. Stay tuned for ideas and suggestions that could help to shift your life too.

Are you a perfectionist?

It's something I've struggled with all of my life. When I was young, I found it hard to make decisions, in case I made the wrong one. I found it difficult to commit, in case I wanted to change my mind. I wrote everything in pencil first so I could improve on it later, including my journal - how crazy is that!

It's true that perfectionism has its place. During my years in the publishing industry, my perfectionist tendencies served me well. After all, magazines, books and financial publications need to be absolutely accurate and there is no room for error.

I was proud to be a perfectionist.

More recently, however, I have discovered that being a perfectionist is not a badge of honour. In fact, it can be a complete hindrance, an excuse for not taking action, a word to hide behind. And it can hold you back in life, dramatically.

I believe I've found the perfect antidote, and that is authenticity.

When you are expressing yourself authentically there is no room for perfectionism, you can be free to say whatever you like, as long as you mean it.

You can tell yourself that authenticity, integrity, realness are more important to your audience than appearing perfect, and your subconscious mind will be forced to believe it.

For example, this photo is a still from one of my recent Facebook lives. And it's blurry. But does it matter? It captures my energy in that moment and feels authentically me.

Overall, I'm feeling more focused and much more productive since making this connection.

I would love to know if you find this insight useful. How important is authenticity to you, when making connections, friends and business associations? I know it's top of my list.

When you get home after taking the afternoon off to watch your daughter at her last ever sports day.

To discover that you’re one of the top 10 income earners in the UK in your new side hustle.

I’ve always been ambitious and aimed for the top, but I did not expect all of this to happen just four months into my new luxury haircare business:

Achieving consistent four figure months
Getting promoted four times, a quadruple ranking
Being invited to accelerator training
Being presented with flowers on stage for having the 3rd fastest growing team in the UK
Qualifying for a luxury spa break for two.
Becoming one of the top 10 income earners in the UK
AND I’m one of only three in the UK to have qualified for a trip to the Bahamas!

The side hustle that I began on a whim has become so much more, It has turned out to be a wise business decision that fits perfectly alongside my coaching business.

I’m so grateful to my amazing friend and mentor for sharing this opportunity with me, and to my rapidly expanding team for being so awesome!

And now I’d like to share it with you. I’m looking to attract people like you who are dynamic self starters, hungry for success and passionate about making a big impact in the world.

Most likely you are already a successful coach or entrepreneur, but deep down feel that you would like more of a challenge, more of a community around you, or simply another income stream.

Best of all this is a chance to be an early adopter in the brand new UK market, with a product range that has been a roaring success in the US.

And did I mention the opportunity to get founders shares too?

You know where I am if you want to find out more!

The number one benefit of freedom-based living? The impact it's having on my family.

I've just returned from my daughter's achievement assembly and I'm feeling more than a little proud.

Turns out she's a bit of a maths genius and received a national award today. As well as one for the Young Enterprise business she's been running all year.

I'm feeling grateful for how much flexibility I've had in the past 15 years of entrepreneurship and how much I've been able to be there in the lives of my children.

I've been able to attend every sports day, awards ceremony, and important occasion in both of my children's lives.

I've been there for them at every step of their development and I believe it shows, in their attitude, their focus, their results and their ambition.

I believe that working around your children is simply the best thing you can do for them.

Being able to give them the attention and encouragement they need to become independent self starters.

In the past when I've talked about building a freedom-based business, others have looked on with a sigh, wishing they could do the same.

And I understand that, with all of life's responsibilities, commitments and obligations, the idea of running a freedom based business can seem totally impossible.

But it's actually completely within your grasp. My new side hustle took barely any time to set up and just a few weeks to start earning money promoting.

All of the infrastructure was set up, the website, the technology, the luxury haircare products, the dispatch. And more training, support and community than you could even believe.

The business model is social marketing and all you need to do is spread the word about the business and the products. So simple. So easy. Anyone can do it.

Yesterday I was at a family party, having a philosophical discussion with my father, and this is what emerged.

In many ways he has been an enlightened parent, opening our eyes to the wider world of theology, philosophy and politics. This early awareness was instrumental to my view of the world and my place within it, and I'm so grateful for the conversations we used to have.

Although he hasn't quite relinquished some of his limiting beliefs!

Are you living fully in the present or are you stuck in the past? As you get older the energy from the past can begin to dominate if you don't do something to prevent this from happening. Memories from the past can become the lens through which you see the world.

Once you realise this you are free to change. Free to focus on appreciation for what you have, to be grounded in the present, to be curious about life, to be mindful.

And that is when you enter the realm of infinite possibility, infinite brilliance. The space where you can have anything you desire, and where absolutely anything can happen. But only if you believe it's true.
